Hitting Your Own Teammate

When a batter hits the ball and the ball hits his teammate what happens to the batter?
Assuming that the ball didn't hit the runner after the ball got past one of the infielders or after an infielder's error, the batter is awarded first base but the base runner who got hit by the batted ball is called out for interference.
