Charles Mangan asks:
When the umpires leave the field of play at what they consider to be a complete game is the game over? Can the umpires return and resume the game?
The umpires leaving the field of play does not institute a complete game. The game is only over when a team is winning after regulation and it needs to be finished due to rain or other reasons or the game have gone 9 or more innings and a team is leading after the 9th or later. However, some games can be suspended and resumed at a further date due to multiple reasons including a city curfew, light failure, etc. Also, game delayed due to rain or something of that nature can be later resumed on the same day.
